Detroit Air Racing, Inc. was founded for the purpose of returning air racing to the City of Detroit while promoting our City as a turnkey solution for the aerospace industry. Air racing is not a new sport to Detroit; just one that's been on hiatus; in fact it's a very old sport starting 1922 with the Curtiss Marine Flying Trophy Races at Belle Isle. Back then, air races were making front page news on a regular basis, and 86 years later, Detroit Air Racing is pleased to announce that Air Racing will return to Detroit River on May 31 - June 1. Hundreds of bids from many big important cities around the world we received, and for the first time, the infamous industrial City of Detroit will host 1 stop of the Red Bull Air Race World Series in 2008. Using the fastest, most maneuverable and lightweight racing planes, pilots will fly low to the ground at speeds of 250 MPH withstanding forces up to 10 Gs navigating a race track made up of inflatable air gates.
"Detroit Air Racing is not responsible or involved with the production of the Red Bull Air Race in Detroit, but only facilitated the key relationships required to enable this race. Detroit Air Racing is now an Agent of the Red Bull Air Race Hospitality Programme in Detroit. We invite you to come to Detroit on May 31 and June 1st to enjoy the Red Bull Air Races. Tell everyone you know and be apart of a new chapter in Detroit's history".
